Implied Violence Presents: A Texted Conversation

Posted in DollaBillz on October 24th, 2009 by The Boss

The Boss: “I will only help you with the Fulbright scholarship if you help me write a theater-nerd sounding cover letter to intern at Wooster Group.”

Cortez: “If you say you work for IV I will give you ALL of my letters of rec! But don’t forget who you work for gurl!”

The Boss: “I won’t forget. But wouldn’t you like to learn the names of people who give them money????”

Cortez: “Basically you are on a The Departed type mission.”

The Boss: “Oh I thought maybe this could be a chick flick lipstick and heels version.”

Cortez: “Where you kill Willem Defoe in real life.

Should this whole correspondence go on the blog?”

Implied Violence: Live at The Hideout

Come one, come all to the classy and close bar/parlor The Hideout for a party in support of the classy and close theater/troublemakers Implied Violence. For the evening of Wednesday, August 19th, Implied Violence will be holding court at The Hideout, located at 1005 Boren Avenue on First Hill. Featuring the artful making of lemon preserves by Michael Hebb, opera singing by Implied Violence Ingénue Pile of Meat, and I.V. gear hawking (get your swagger on), this one-night event, hosted gracefully by Greg Lundgren & The Hideout, is a fundraiser. It’s free to get in, but come thirsty with your wallets greased. All proceeds from this evening go towards getting the Implied Violence crew to New York City, where they will be premiering their new experimental work “The Dorothy K.” for The New isLand Festival on Governor’s Island. It’s the talk of the summer, so some say. Implied Violence needs a little extra help from the community to realize our vision. The times are tough but, Implied Violence, with your support, is tougher.

Shot-A-Thon Week Two Update

Posted in DollaBillz on July 29th, 2009 by Mandie

I am sitting now at the new Cupcake Royale on Capitol Hill. It is air conditioned, which, after six hours behind an espresso machine at my job in Madrona, feels fucking fantastic. There are so many people in here, just soaking up AC and calories.

I have purchased several bottles of Evan Williams Whiskey, which are sitting in a large brown bag at my feet. Nobody is coming to visit me and get more booze, which is a bad sign for the Implied Violence Shot-a-Thon. So I am posting the results of the second-week check-in/tally-up in hopes of inspiring more booze selling to the hot and hungry masses.

Shot-a-Thon Leaderboard Week Two

Expect many Shot-a-Thon Sponsors at Implied Violence’s first funding bash this weekend:
“No Friends Only Enemies” will have three bars, vagina punch, and whiskey shots. Straight Up!

“The Dorothy K.” to Be Presented at The New isLand Festival

The Head

The Head

Implied Violence is presenting “The Dorothy K.” in New York City this September as part of the New Island Festival.

The Dorothy K. is Part One of the middle section of a larger piece entitled “Flinch Not and Give Not Back”, a piece that was conceptualized during Implied Violence’s artistic residency at The Watermill Center. It exists as an articulated, accordion-like 4-part series, which, after it’s logical conclusion, illogically endures its death in a miserable afterlife—resting on top of and in relation to “Flinch Not and Give Not Back”, feeding off of it and sucking it dry. When The Dorothy K. finally succumbs to its death, its death being its ending, so ends “Flinch Not and Give Not Back”.

From the New Island Festival–
Direct from Holland, the New Island Festival will set up stakes on New York City’s Governors Island from September 10–13 and again from September 17–20. The festival will kick off the fall with concerts, DJ sets, provocative theatre, stunning site specific performance and dazzling visual arts, performed by world class Dutch performers. More than 100 artists will perform during the festival.

We’re having some benefit parties. Please join us.
